This smoothie is one of many recipes to do exactly that. It's based on two powerful ingredients – spinach and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Calling any of these two foods a superfood would be a huge understatement! Both spinach and lemon are considered to be some of the healthiest foods on the planet and with a good reason too – they are loaded with antioxidants that are proven to help reduce the risk of heart disease, inflammation, and even fight different types of cancer. Bananas, on the other hand, are packed with healthy carbs, potassium, vitamin B6, manganese, and many other vitamins and minerals. When combined with protein-loaded Greek yogurt, unsweetened almond milk, and some maple syrup for a wonderful flavor, this recipe is truly a wonderful breakfast, snack, or even a light dinner option. 1 cup spinach, chopped
2 frozen bananas
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
¼ cup Greek yogurt, vanilla flavor
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp maple syrup
4 tbsp lime juice, freshly squeezed
Combine all ingredients in a blender and pulse until smooth. Pour into serving glasses and optionally add some ice. Serve immediately.
