AJNA YOGA JUTE MAT

With proper care, your mat should last for many years. Use a cloth and a non-toxic cleaner to gently wipe down your mat after use. We also recommend that do this before your first use, as most yoga mats incur a thin layer of residue during the production process. Airing your mat out from time to time will also increase the lifespan of your mat.
Perhaps you’ve taken your mat to the park or beach. What now? Simply wash your mat in the tub with some warm water and detergent, and she’ll be good as new.
We’ll leave that up to you! Generally, people like using the jute fiber side to practice on (the natural materials will contribute to grounding you!), but our mats are reversible and can be used on either side.
It’s not uncommon for your mat to be a bit slippery at first, but rest assured that as the jute softens with use, your mat will become much more grippy. To help break your mat in faster you can try the method outlined here, that uses salt to soften the fibers.
Our mats are made from meshing organic Jute and PER (Polymer Environmental Resin) together. The result is a beautifully textured mat that is both durable and functional, whilst also being 100% biodegradable. Jute is one of nature’s most sustainable fibers, taking only 4 months to grow to maturity. PER is a type of eco synthetic rubber, and like jute, is bio-degradable. It contains no PVC, heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates, phenols, PAH’s, latex, rubber, or silicone.

Our mats are best suited to Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Ashtanga, Power Yoga, Kundalini, Pilates, and Stretching. If you sweat a lot or practice Bikram, our mat is suitable for use with a thin towel over the top.
We can say with confidence that these mats are our absolute favorite. We tested many varieties and materials during the creation process and found that this combo always had us returning for more. The feel, the density, the look…it will make your yoga experience all the more enjoyable! Aside from that, this mat ticks all of our environmental prerequisites. Other mats, such as those made from PVC, release dioxins and other carcinogens into their surroundings during manufacturing and can be absorbed through your largest organ- your skin. By using jute and PER, we make a safe environment for both our customers and our manufacturers. Additionally, PVC mats are not biodegradable or recyclable, and hence an unsustainable choice. We want our mats to last for years, not forever.
Our mats are extra long at 72 inches, and 5mm thick. We chose this thickness as it cushions your joints, but is not so thick that you lose your panic (energetic) connection to the earth.

AJNA ACUPRESSURE MAT AND PILLOW

Acupressure is an ancient therapy that originated in India and developed further in Japan as Shiatsu massage. Acupressure uses the fingers, thumbs, and certain tools, such as an acupressure mat, to apply pressure to various areas in the body called pressure points. The pressure that is applied stimulates the release of blocked energy and increases circulation in the targeted areas, which brings about various therapeutic benefits.
The Ajnamat uses the same principles as acupressure and has been designed with more than 5,000 spikes that help to activate the natural healing abilities of your body.
Acupressure has been shown to provide various benefits, including:

If you have sensitive or inflamed skin, the spikes on the Ajnamat may feel slightly irritating. An easy solution to this problem is to place a thin layer of cloth between your skin and your Ajnamat. However, if you notice that your skin condition is worsening with treatment, you should discontinue use immediately.
There are no major side effects of using the Ajnamat. Immediately after treatment, you may notice some redness in the targeted area, which is the result of increased blood circulation. This redness should disappear within a few minutes after treatment.
Absolutely! Regular use of the Ajnamat helps to promote general health and well-being.
Believe it or not, there are certain acupressure points that can induce labor. For this reason, we do not recommend using the Ajnamat if you are pregnant.
It is advised that you speak to your healthcare provider before using the Ajnamat if you suffer from any of the following:
  • Heart disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Blood disorder or if you are taking anticoagulation medications relief
  • Open wounds or sores
  • Acute illness or fever
Just like many treatments, your body will take time to adapt to using an acupressure mat. During the first several minutes of treatment, you may experience a prickling sensation, followed by a feeling of warmth, in the areas that are being targeted. There is no need to worry though; this sensation is just muscle tension being released. If you’re not able to tolerate the sensation in the beginning, place a thin layer of cloth between your mat and your skin to ease the sensation. Keep in mind that once you start using the Ajnamat on a regular basis, you will likely experience little to no discomfort.
TheThe Ajnamat will not pierce your skin when used correctly. Ensure that you handle the mat carefully, and gently lie on the acupressure mat so that there is an even distribution of pressure. Avoid jumping or hitting the mat, or dragging it across your body as these activities can result in injury.
We recommend at least 10 to 15 minutes per day to start. Once your body gets accustomed to the mat, you can increase by 5-minute increments until you reach 20 to 60 minutes. We also recommend that you use the Ajnamat regularly, and if possible, daily.
There is no harm in falling asleep on your Ajnamat. When you wake up, simply remove the mat and continue sleeping.
Of course! However, avoid washing machines and tumble drying as this can damage parts of the mat. Instead, hand wash your mat using lukewarm water and a mild soap and hang it to dry.
It is perfectly safe for your child to use the Ajnamat, with proper supervision. It helps them to relax quickly, which allows them to calm down, especially close to bedtime.
