With more time spent sitting- on the couch, at work, or in the car, our hip health can suffer. When hips are tight, they increase the load on the back and cause overuse of the spine. Tight hips also store our pent up emotions, and deep vulnerabilities. If you've ever teared up in a Pidgeon Pose, this is why!
Yoga provides a plethora of advantages for those who struggle with hip pain or stiffness from tight fascia and muscles. Specific yoga poses, or Asana, stretch and open the hips, while others help to strengthen the hip flexor muscles, and the stabilising muscles that surround it.
In addition to the benefits of improved range of motion and circulation and decreased back pain, opening the hips can create an energetic shift or release as well.
In this video, Pau D'Elia takes you through a gentle 15 minute flow that is perfect for winding down at the end of the day.
Although this class is titled Pre-Natal yoga, it is really suitable for anyone wishing to release physical and emotional tension held in their hips, and reduce back pain!
Pau uses theAjna Wellbeing bolster, for support throughout, but if you don't have a bolster, you can also use a firm pillow.
